When I first started posting things on the internet I never thought I would have to make a post like this. With all the corona virus news out there and the fake news that is spreading like wildfire through social media and then being retold In Real Life, I am making this post now.
Drinking 8 or more litres of water a day will not cure corona virus.
There’s a Facebook story going around that at least four people I have spoken to told me about, the gist is. If you drink lots and lots of water it will push the corona virus into your stomach and stop it getting into your lungs.
I mean seriously, how fucking stupid are people? The virus is transmitted mostly by people getting sneezed or coughed on by infected people and then touching their face. The virus spreads through the mucous membranes.
When I attempted to debunk someone about the story they asked me, “Why do I feel better when I drink loads of water when I have a regular cold?”
The answer is simple, you aren’t curing yourself, you are just remaining hydrated.
Is there a cure?
Short answer is no.
Long answer is, not really, but there are definitely ways to kill the virus and stop the spread.
The most effective thing you can do right now is to wash your damn hands with soap. Hand sanitiser if you don’t have access to soap and water out in public.
